Internet Keeps Going Out

Hello - I have used Xfinity for 4+ years and recently, my internet stops working throughout the day. I have recently upgraded my speeds and it is still happening. I then sit there for a minute or two and it begins working again even though I haven't done anything (turn off my computer, restart my modem, etc.). This is happening more and more frequently -help!! I am considering changing internet providers if this isn't solved ASAP as it's impacting my work.

First. Is this with a WiFi connection ? If so, as a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an Ethernet cable have the same problem ?


With this test, we are trying to isolate this down to being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system, which would of course affect both. It's a good first step in troubleshooting before proceeding any further.

Hello - Yes, this is a Wifi connection and a device hardwired in does have the same issues.

Ok, what do the modem's signal status values look like ? Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1 

Please copy all of the text in its entirety of the *Downstream Power Levels*, the *SNR's* (Signal to Noise Ratios), and the *Upstream Power Level* numbers and paste them into your next post.


What is the exact make and model number of the modem / gateway device ?

Suit yourself, but if you can fix it yourself, you may be able to save the possible $100.00 charge for the tech visit if the problem is found to be with your stuff rather than theirs. Good luck with it !

user_x6vg1r Hi and welcome to our forums! I understand having connection interruptions can be draining! You've seem to have taken some amazing steps in troubleshooting yourself. I love that focus! I work from home too and I'd be saying the same thing if it isn't resolved. With the steps you've taken, how long have you had your internet modem? When was the last time you've had an upgrade?
