Internet upload capped at 40mbs

My internet upload has been capped at around 40mbs even though my plan has around 250mbs. What is the best way to resolve this? My modem is a Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 so there isn't an issue with hardware.

Actually, it is a problem with the hardware. The  CM2000 is not compatible with their new Next Gen / mid-split /enhanced upload speeds so it won't get provisioned correctly.

Check for third-party / retail-purchased devices that are currently compatible here;

https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned ". Scroll down to "See all Modems". Then scroll down to "Compatible Modems For Enhanced Speeds".

Their XB6, XB7, and XB8 rented gateway devices are also compatible.
