IP geolocation does not match my service address

Comcast conducted maintenance in my neighborhood last week and now my external IP is listed as another city/state.  I need this resolved ASAP as it is wreaking havoc with my subscribed services that use geolocation data of your IP.

I've seen several posts regarding the same issues that are listed as resolved and closed.

In most of these there is a person submitting multiple links that you can click on to try to resolve your problem.  Most of these links look very suspicious and redirect you to unrelated sites.  Either someone is using this issue to get payouts for redirects or they are just installing malware.  Either way this needs to be resolved by an official Comcast employee and not a random individual throwing out links.

You likely recently received a new / different WAN (public) IP address assignment to your connection from their DHCP server / IP address pool, and the rDNS / geolocation data that is associated with it is now incorrect for you as it previously belonged to someone else that lived in that other area.

Comcast shuffles blocks of IP addresses around the country all the time. And after doing local plant maintenance / upgrades. ISP's don't correct this. A third-party service does. Unfortunately, this is typically a *back-burner* thing to get corrected. The only thing that you can do is to report it. You can try this;

https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip-location-correction

https://support.google.com/websearch/contact/ip/

https://whatismyipaddress.com/location-feedback

http://www.ipligence.com/contact/

https://www.ip2location.com/contact/

Wait for the geolocation provider to approve your request. If your request is approved, the amount of time it takes to see the correction varies by provider. The average is two weeks to a month or more.

You can also try this;

If you are using a router that has a MAC address cloning feature, you can clone a different MAC address into it. This will force a change of your Comcast assigned WAN / public IP address. No guarantees that the new address won't also have incorrect geo-data as it may be from the same block of IP's. YMMV.

And here it is.  Some of these are directed at completely unrelated sites.  Some of these are located outside of the country and have absolutely nothing to do with US based services or the IANA group which manages the internet's IP spaces.

The xfinity community board is not resolving the issue and are propagating unsafe links through bad moderation.

I need the help of an actual Comcast employee here.

Thank you for reaching out to us here @r33vr. The expert post was correct, we would not have the ability to make changes to your public IP address, the links provided would be the best option. We would be able to escalate the request if you can send us a direct message with the full name and complete address for your service.

To send a direct message [private message]:

   Click the "Direct Message" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

   Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

   The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.

   - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

   - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

   Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

   Press Enter to send it

I am an Official Xfinity Employee.

You're welcome.... Sorry you feel that way. And there is nothing "unsafe" about those links. You're going to hear the same thing from Comcast employees. They will not be able to change your public IP address. Use the first link (MaxMind). They are the best and the fastest. It has helped many many posters here !!

I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) who are available to these boards. Good luck !
