Massive ping spikes every 3-15 seconds on WiFi and 15 seconds to 1 minute when wired

Out of the blue this morning I suddenly could not play a game online that i've been playing as my ping was so high I could not even move the character (in the realm of 3000-11000 ping). over the next few hours it has stabilized closer to 800+ which is also unplayable. I have run a ping test and found that every 3-15 seconds my ping is going from a health range of 32-40 up to 800 - 1300 for a second, then dropping back down. This makes working from home on video and voice calls, streaming videos(live) and gaming completely abysmal. It is happening on every device, wired and wireless. I have reset my modem, talked to Xfinity, of course "everything looks fine" on their end. It appears that this is generally an issue where the node needs maintenance. For anyone who's had this happen? did they fix the issue in a timely manner? If this is something that is going to persist for weeks or months, I need to change to another provider immediately as i'm having to take PTO because no one can understand what i'm saying on meetings (basically what i'm doing all day at work)
