MB7420

I am using the rented SB6121, which is EOL for the Internet service I have. I own a MB7420 whose faster speed matches my Internet speed. Can I just substitute my 7420 for Xfinity's 6121?

P.S. The 6121 would have to be deregistered and the 7420 registered. I don't know if that would happen automatically or if a Xfinity person would have to do it.

@Antipode Per the modem, you can definitely own your own modem at any time that you want. You would want to visit the link: https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/ to check on compatible modems. As long as the modem is a modem/ router combination you would not need to get separate equipment. I want to let you know that there are great benefits to using our Xfinity modem https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/why-rent-wireless-gateway. You can use the app to activate your owned modem.
