modem
Hi
I currently have the gateway modem from Xfinity. Having issues with connection dropping and areas of house not covered for the wifi. I Have a TP link mesh router archer a7 model. i connected it to the internet feed that was going into the gateway modem and this seems to fix the problem. Is this ok to keep using.
Thanks

Do you have the A7 setup as being a WiFi extender only ?

OK if you are hanging a stand-alone / separate router off of the gateway device, and the gateway is not in *bridge mode*, you are cascading 2 routing devices which will result in an undesirable "double NAT" condition on your home network.
Google "double NAT" for info about its potential pitfalls. It may break some applications.
You really should put it into bridge mode. Here's how;

@doksteve Hello! Thanks for reaching out and sharing your networking questions on our Xfinity Forums! You should be OK with the A7 connected, however as @EG shared it could create issues with devices and applications. Putting the gateway into bridge mode would be the recommendation if you haven't done that already. Please let us know if this helps out, or if there's anything else you might need!
@EG Thanks for your input and guidance!
