My Connection Speed Is Down To 10% Of What I Am Paying For

For the week or so my connection speed is down to about 70MBPS. I am paying for and used to get 900MBPS. I have restarted everything in the line. I am hardwired to the router. What gives?

Thanks for flagging this — we totally get how frustrating it is to see such a big drop in speed, especially when you're hardwired and expecting close to 900 Mbps.

Since you’ve already restarted everything and confirmed you're using a wired connection, here are a few things that could help narrow down what’s going on:

  • Run a speed test directly from your modem (bypassing the router, if possible). This can help rule out whether the issue is with the modem itself or something happening downstream.

  • Check the Ethernet cable type — for gigabit speeds, you'll want at least a Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable. Anything lower can cap your speed.

  • Inspect for background activity — things like cloud backups, large downloads, or multiple devices streaming can eat up bandwidth even if you're wired.

  • Verify your device’s network card — if your computer’s Ethernet adapter isn’t gigabit-capable, it might be a bottleneck.

If everything checks out and speeds are still way off, there might be a signal issue or line noise affecting performance. We can definitely take a closer look at that — just let us know!

Have you had a chance to see if any of those troubleshooting tips apply ?
