My HP Smart Tank 5100 printer needs a 2.4 GHz network but the Gateway is 5.0. Is there a way to change it?

My new printer has become unusable. HP says to contact my internet service provider. Here is the HP video that says 2.4GHz is required  https://youtu.be/O-hSNDCJTTM?si=y0hOIRhxD2mTQuJG

Xfinity, please advise. I tried to use the Xfinity chat bot but it didn't understand my question. My HP Smart Tank 5100 printer needs a 2.4 GHz network but the Gateway is 5.0. Is there a way to change it?

Thank you in advance!

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 names and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

Hello @user_i47166, I see from our amazing Xfinity Forums Expert, EG, suggesting If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 names and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's. You were also provided with some helpful links. Did you try any of the suggestions?

Hello Melinda,

I appreciate the follow up. I can get in the app, and create an admin log in, then on the web, go to 10.0.0.1 to edit settings. But I can't follow these instructions because options are grayed out.

  • Go to Gateway > Connection > Wi-Fi.
    To change your Channel Selection, select Edit next to the WiFi channel (2.4 or 5 GHz) you'd like to change.
    Click the radio button for the channel selection field, then select your desired channel number.
    To change your WiFi Mode, select Edit next to WiFi Mode and select your desired mode.

I think it doesn't work because:

"Some advanced WiFi settings for gateways with this software enhancement are not visible and cannot be managed from the Admin Tool or Xfinity app."

"Advanced settings aren't visible for XB6 gateways (and newer models) and can’t be managed from the Xfinity app"

"Note: Advanced settings aren't visible for XB6 gateways (and newer models) and can’t be managed for these particular models. Confirm the gateway model to ensure steps are applicable."

so I cannot separate 2.4 and 5.0 because it's "being optimized for me", which I think means my printer that I acquired a couple months before the gateway has become unusable, or I can't figure out how to get it online.
