New Gateway bought, only blinks yellow light
I got this Xfinity Gateway yesterday at around 5:00 EST, during an outage. Obviously I wouldn't have tried using it if I had known beforehand. I plugged it in, went through the hoops, but never actually connected it with my phone. The white light went away, after I was asked to name my WiFi.
Reset it, unplug and replugged it, waited hours, screwed in the coaxital cords, browsed this very forum all night, but I can't get the white light to come back. I don't even really know what I'm supposed to do. The app is so vague and assumes things will just work... and they haven't. I'd hate to have to wait an entire week for a technician to come help fix this, so I'm just throwing out a desperate final plea. I'm more than happy to elaborate, if anybody has any idea what to do.

Hi there. We’re sorry you’ve been stuck dealing with this, especially after trying to activate the gateway during a service interruption. That can definitely make the setup process feel like it went sideways.
A blinking yellow or amber light usually means the gateway is trying to connect but is not getting fully online. Since the white light went away after setup started, it may still be trying to complete activation or it may not be getting a strong signal from the coax outlet.
First, please check the Xfinity Status Center to make sure the area interruption has fully cleared. If it has, try removing any splitter if one is being used, then connect the coax cable directly from the wall outlet to the gateway. Make sure the coax is finger-tight on both ends. After that, unplug the gateway from power for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, and give it about 10 to 15 minutes to reconnect.
If you have another coax outlet in the home, it is worth trying that one too. Sometimes only one outlet is active for service, and the gateway will keep blinking if it is connected to an inactive outlet.
If the light still will not turn white after that, please let us know the gateway model, whether this was shipped/picked up directly from Xfinity, and what the app shows when you try to activate it. Please do not post the CM MAC address, serial number, account number, or any personal details publicly.
