New routers drop connection

I'm on my second new router and having the same issues. My first router was the ASUS RT-AX1800S and I stopped using it because it constantly was losing internet connection and now I have the Netgear nighthawk R6700AX and have the same issue. My old router doesn't have this issue, but I want a wifi 6 router that has faster speeds.

If you have had the same issues with different routers, it isn't the router.  You probably have areas where there is weak signal, crosstalk, or dead spots. What troubleshooting have you done?

Is this with a WiFi connection ? If so, as a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?


With this test, we are trying to isolate this down to being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step in troubleshooting before proceeding any further.
