Packetloss on iRacing and other games

Having random 100% packetloss spikes and constantly having %1 packetloss in Fortnite also and with random spikes on the latency and ping. Ran pingplotter and shows what I'm talking about. Had a tech come out last Wednesday told me, my line to the house looked fine but he could see something going on out at the box said "it's very little" as professional sim racer online racing requires a very strong and stable connection and sitting in game watching the "quality" (meaning my connection to the server) drop to 98 sometimes down to 95 and never hold 100 has been frustrating the last couple weeks as this issue just kinda popped up out of no where. Modem was switched out by the tech when he was here last Wednesday. The tech told me before he left, he put in a ticket for somebody to come out here and check the box outside. Since that's where he seen the interference/problem going on, in the coming days as it's Monday (don't expect them to work weekend) still no update and problem is still present.

Good morning PF_1. Thanks for sharing the internet trouble you are experiencing with our services. I'm sorry to read how negatively this has been impacting your performance. I would love to help out to get your services back to where they should be. Typically, when a technician creates a request for our maintenance team those requests are completed within 48 hours. Are you using any additional devices besides the gateway? Like an additional router or mesh system?

I am not using extra switches or routers, just the one from xfinity that the tech replaced a week ago. Also tested on my other gaming pc system and getting the same results, so I can rule out my pc having faulty hardware or an update messing with things.

PF_1 Thank you for letting me know your connections and the test results on other devices. When testings on the other pc were you accessing the same site to test?

Let's check on the maintenance order that should have been submitted. Please send us a direct message with your name and service address.

@PF_1

Here's how to send that requested direct message to the team;

  • Click "Sign In" if that prompt is visible

  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon  or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person but don't do that.

      Instead, type Xfinity Support there. As you are typing a drop-down list appears.

  • Select "Xfinity Support" from the list. An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

  • Press Enter or tap the > icon to send it

Fortnite is my main game and I’m having pretty frequent 1% packet loss as well. Not sure what’s up with Xfinity. I’ve tried everything the last week and nothing has helps. Is not our computer.

Hello user_famuaq, thanks for checking into our Forum and for trying some troubleshooting steps on your end. Thats a popular game, but no matter what you plan, that would be an annoying thing to deal with. To confirm, is this the only instance you see the packet loss? Are you using your own modem or a standalone/personal router?

I am running into the same issue. If the server loads, I then get disconnected due to “download” packet loss at 100%. Used pingplotter and confirmed the packet loss for the server(s). Tried getting assistance from chat system. Ultimately told they are working on my ticket but I have not received any calls from the back office engineers or a technician.

Anyone find a solution yet?

I am having the same issue I have xfinity and I cannot get a good iracing Race for my life I had an a technician come out and told me everything is fine Service is running at 100% I play CS2 With rarely any issues, but when it comes to iracing The practice sessions usually OK but once I get into an actual ranked match, my Internet connection goes bad packet loss after packet loss. I can’t figure out a solution.

Thank you so much for sharing those details with us, @user_k4quc9! I am sorry to hear about the troubles with the iracing, I know its super frustrating. We are super limited on our troubleshooting with specifics of games because it would be server based. Have you done any further troubleshooting with the developer of the game? And I would recommend troubleshooting the settings on your pc specifically.

So after trying over and over and over again trying to figure out why my game is lagging and skipping and not running properly due to packet loss.. I deleted all of my overlays simhub, trading paints, and simlab and i run the game dry with no issues no packet loss. so anyone out there having issues and have overlays try uninstalling them. hope this helps
