Persistent Speed Issues & 5GHz Band Failure After Multiple Plan Upgrades

Hi, my name is Mahamed. I'm experiencing ongoing internet speed problems that have persisted across multiple service upgrades and support interactions, and I need assistance resolving this.

I originally had an unlimited 100 Mbps plan but was experiencing slow speeds, so I upgraded to the 300 Mbps plan. However, the performance remained unchanged—I was only getting approximately 40 Mbps download speeds despite the upgrade. I contacted support, and while they were supposedly "looking into it," I noticed a 500 Mbps plan being advertised for only slightly more cost. I decided to upgrade to that plan in hopes of finally getting the speeds I was paying for.

Support restarted my XB7 modem/router combo and attempted to provision it, which only marginally improved my speeds from ~40 Mbps to ~60 Mbps—still far below the advertised 500 Mbps. A technician has been scheduled for tomorrow, but there's an additional critical issue that keeps being dismissed: the 5GHz band is not working at all. The modem is not splitting bands, and I am completely stuck on the 2.4GHz network. I have mentioned this multiple times to support agents, but it has been consistently passed over and ignored throughout my interactions.

Hey there, @Mh123_6! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums. I completely understand where you are coming from, and wanting to ensure that you have a solid connection within the home. The technician would be the best route with getting the modem and speeds looked into. How did your appointment go?
