Regional Routing Fault: MN/WI traffic detouring through Denver/San Jose (ibone bypass)

Issue Summary: I am located in the Roseville, MN / Wisconsin node. I am experiencing a "tromboning" routing issue where traffic destined for the East Coast (Chicago/DC) is being sent to Denver and San Jose before returning East, adding 60ms of unnecessary latency.

Proof of Local Low Latency (Chicago Hub): This confirms my local node and equipment are fine (11ms to Chicago). | Hop | IP Address | Latency | Location/Notes | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | 1 | 192.168.50.1 | <1 ms | Local ASUS Router | | 2 | 162.159.153.4 | 11 ms | Cloudflare Chicago Hub |

Proof of Broken Routing (OSRS Game Server): This shows the 80ms detour through Denver (Hop 10). | Hop | IP/Hostname | Latency | The Routing Error | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | 1-9 | [Local Comcast Nodes] | 11 ms | MN/WI Local Cluster | | 10 | be-39821-cs02.1601milehigh.co.ibone.comcast.net | 31 ms | DETOUR: Denver, CO | | 13 | den-bb2-link.ip.twelve99.net | 31 ms | Handover to Backbone | | 16 | akamai-ic-369547.ip.twelve99-cust.net | 62 ms | Sent further West | | 20 | oldschool22.runescape.com | 79 ms | Final Destination (High Latency) |

Request for Engineering: Please escalate this to the NOC (Network Operations Center) or the Regional Peering Team. This is a BGP routing misconfiguration at the Roseville aggregation hub. Local hardware and signal levels have been ruled out. I need my traffic to exit via the Chicago peering point (equinix-chi) as intended.

I'm in the same area and wanted to add that I am experiencing the same issue. I first noticed it last night Saturday March 13. Currently seeing about a 30ms increase in latency to Virginia and European servers. Normally I would ping 40-50ms to the east coast, but now it's more like 80ms. Hopefully this issue gets solved soon.

Hello there @user_5hjcih I hate to hear about your ping issues. Has this since been resolved?
