Slow wifi speeds from Gateway

Good afternoon. Having an issue with my Xfinity gateway.

The gateway is a TECHNICOLOR CGM4331COM and the issue has been going on for close to a year since service was activated. The subdivision is brand new as is my home (less than a year old).

I am paying for high speed (1G download and 150 mbps upload). The upload speed is not the problem, it is correct. 

When testing the download speed, even standing right next to the gateway, I am never able to achieve higher than 600 mbps. Every test of the network with the Xfinity app states I am receiving approximately 1100 mbps download speed to the gateway.

Is this to be expected? It seems counterproductive to pay for a download speed and only receive about half of that speed from the gateway.

Any help you can provide would be apprciated.

Yes, multiple gateway reboots and the speed is the same when tested with multiple devices so, I believe this is what the gateway is broadcasting.

  • Make sure you are signed in here in the Xfinity Forum. Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message" icon (square chat icon in the upper right corner of your screen next to the bell icon)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it
