Sound cuts out on DVR'd shows while using Ipads

I have 2 ipads and had this issue a year ago and it continues.

The irony this week is that the sound cut out during an xfinity commercial

Over  the last year I have restored both my Ipads but the problem persists.

The shows are fine using cable box or roku.

But more and more we use ipads. a 42 inch tv does not cut it anymore especially when programing shows somebody looking at a text or series of texts on a phone.

with the voice /sound cut outs we miss important lines.

The  cut out does not  occur with say Amazon or Netflix  or apple TV.

I hardly watch live shows but this certainly occurs during recorded shows. Do not recall if a live show is affected.

and its happening whether in house or out of housem using internet wifi. I am too cheap frugal to watch shows using cell service. $250 a month for TV/Internet is a lot in retirement-when you finally have time to watch more tv.

To say the least, its annoying, especially with service cost so high and all sorts of new alternatives. I do not want to change as its better than having all sorts of streaming services.

Hello iamhesh! I hope you are having a great day, thank you for bringing this ongoing issue to our attention for the playback audio trouble on the ipad. I love using the Xfinity Stream app especially to keep from having to jump through 5 different apps. Having this one gives me all the access and shows I want to enjoy. I'm sorry that you have been having this trouble for so long. I certainly understand the frugal side as well. Which is why downloading shows to watch on the go is a must-do for my family when we take our road trips. The tablets really help keep the kids entertained while traveling. The Xfinity stream app makes traveling so easy!

I would love to figure out the issue for us with the app on the ipads. Do you ever download your recorded programs? Can you give me an example of a show that you experience the audio cutting out?

Hi Paula;

on recorded shows it runs the gamut-sports, movies, news, a few "regular" TV show series.

One of the things is I think my wife does not experience sound cutting out, but by the same token she needs to watch any shows again as she falls asleep. So its not easy to compare to see if things are the same. Her Ipad is a bit older than mine which are vintage 2020 and 2022 for mine and probably about 2018 for hers. I have compared settingss but they al look the same.

I usually do not watch live shows, and have not paid attn to whether the  cut outs are on live programming.

If anything else comes to mind I wil let you know.

THanks for your prompt attn.

well, on a recorded program I just had 2 cut outs, so I went to my wifes IPad and it cut out on that  too.

Using TV and comcast box the sound was fine and it was fine using a roku box.

Still have not looked at a live program.

Will watch a baseball game tonight using the (I am in Chicago) marque app and the xfinity streaming app to see how it all plays out.

just finished a 2:10 live baseball game. About 10 breakdowns with no sound--for 5-6 seconds. Once again, the  system does not care--as there were 5 commercials affected. Two were xfinity commercials

Makes me wonder what the breakdown is between folks watching on regular TV devices vs handheld devices.
