Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out;

I am getting this on internet about every 10-20 minutes. It is affecting Wired and Wireless connections close to 10-20 times a day.

Same here.  But it's been happening for the past couple weeks.  Agents say it's all fixed, then they say it's an outage, then its all fixed, then that they are doing an upgrade to the system (and taking forever to get it done).  I think they just fall back on the "upgrade" excuse when they don't want to talk to you anymore

@TacticoolDad

The upstream power is too high and it may be intermittently fluctuating even higher to out of spec levels. That can cause random disconnects, spontaneous re-booting of the modem, speed, packet loss, latency problems, and the un-bonding of channels.

In an effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/reconfigured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1002 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage from Home Depot, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test.

Also, check the coax cable for any damage such as cuts, nicks, abrasions, kinks, sharp bends, or animal chews.

If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two-way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street / pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

Good luck with it !

I have taken out every splitter in the system.  Just cable from the outside of the home to the Cable Modem.   Tech came out and replaced all the cable ends and connectors with Xfinity approved new parts.  All looks good from time to time, then 5-15 minutes down, then back up.  All my neighbors reporting the same crappy internet connectivity for a couple weeks as well.  This is not a home-equipment issue, it's upstream from all of us.

Are you neighbors also calling in to complain ? The more that do, the more effective it will be ! If there is nothing more that can be done to improve the connection quality, then you'll need to get the techs involved again.

Bear in mind that if the premises-facing techs can not find or fix a problem at your home, it is they who are responsible for escalating it up to their line / network / maintenance dept. techs. The problem may lie beyond your home in the local neighborhood infrastructure somewhere but it is their S.O.P. to start at the home. And if the problem is found to be on their side of the demarcation point, there will not be any charge.

Good luck !

@EG

I don't have any splitters at all in the home. Cable goes direct from Wall to modem/router. The Coax Cable from my wall to my CAX30 modem/router is older (more than five years) but looks fine. It was provided to me by Xfinity before when I moved here and had their router. I'll try a new one. A For from my house to the street, I do not know, it's all underground from what I can tell.

I don't know any my neighbors sadly. Xfinity was out here late last week working on something at the end of the street, but this problem pre-dates that and is still happening now.

What kind of COAX cable would be good?
