Sudden Spike in Data Usage
Hello,
I usually use around 500GB per month, but my data usage has suddenly spiked up since December, 2024. It seems almost doubled than I expected.
For the December, 2024, I waived the data overage fee because of it's the first month of over 1.2TB limitation. In January 17th, 2025, I received a warning message that I've used 75% of the limitation. So, I added unlimited option ($30) to avoid the overage fee, just in case if it is over 1.2TB. Then, I found that there are many users that have the same issues on this forum:

Following this since I'm having the same issue. Usage spiked by 4x. I was chatting and on a call with xfinity for over 5 hours yesterday and no one was able to offer any help or even acknowledged that this is a known issue for other users that they're investigating.

Have there been any successful resolutions to this issue? This definitely seems like an Xfinity GB usage calculation change as no way this many people have same sudden spike in data usage.
I have been experiencing the same since mid Dec 2024 with monthly data usage almost doubling. No change in devices and even reset WiFi password in case there was unauthorized activity on my network (which seeing this thread is clearly not the case). I will be calling customer service this week and canceling (move to a different provider) if a remedy can’t be reached as this type of rouge treatment to customers who use their own modems (as an attempt to force into XFi modem) is low, even for a utility company

I'm having the same issue, random data spike for the month of March and have gotten zero assistance with this from "customer service", or any of the other numerous departments I've been transferred to for the last 8 days spending literally hours on the phone each day. Problem is not on my side and Xfinity seems incapable of solving this issue or even telling me why it is happening. Unacceptable. If it's some kind of fraud they are participating in letting it continue.
