Upgraded from 1.1 gbps to 2.1 gbps and not seeing any difference
I recently upgraded my 1 gbps xfinity internet to 2.1 gbps and in order to do so, xfinity sent me a XB8 Gateway to replace my XB7. I installed it yesterday and put it in bridge mode to connect to my orbi 870 mesh router with 2 satelites. I also tried it initially just with the xb8 gateway on its own. Wired directly to the orange Ethernet port I’m still only getting 800 mbps and only 300 to 600 mbps over WiFi which is the exact same as I was getting with the 1 gbps service. I’m not seeing any increase in speed from the 2.1 gbps service at all. I checked that I’m using cat 8 Ethernet cable, I even switched to a cat 6a cable and no change noted.
I then spent 3 hours with tech support (India from what I can tell) and they completely wasted my time not solving anything. (Shocker) Apparently nothing in their scripted responses addresses this issue. Furthermore before I was even allowed to speak to a human I had to threaten the chat bot with cancellation before it finally gave me a live agent. Unbelievably difficult to reach someone.
I suspect that my area is not set up to handle the increased speed and xfinity conveniently overlooks that when accepting more money for an upgraded service that they are clearly incapable of providing.
It appears this issue comes up a lot in this forum with no resolutions so I’m left with either downgrading somehow back to what I had before or canceling all together and finding a different provider that is easier to work with.
Before I do, I am posting this as a last ditch effort to get anyone with half a brain at xfinity to offer help and FIX the issue for me.

And after testing the speed to the modem, open up your Orbi app and test speed of the connection from the modem to the Orbi. Make sure you're using the 10Gbe ports on both the XB8 and the Orbi. You probably won't ever see more than a gigabit or so to any individual device over the air, but you'd first want to know that the Orbi can see the whole 2Gbps you're paying for.

FWIW. The XB8 does not have a 10Gbe port. The fastest port is 2.5 gig.
