Upgraded speeds not taking effect

I recently upgraded to gig speeds from 300Mbps down but do not see the upgraded speeds when I run speed tests.  I’ve power cycled my modem several times and ensured my ethernet cable is cat6e which can handle the upgraded speeds.  The xfinity AI chat says my connection has no issues.  When do the new speeds take effect?  My internet speeds are the same as my old plan even though my account shows i’m on the 1gig plan.
