What is the difference between the DPC3941T and CGM4981COM

Question

I have attempted to 'upgrade' two different CGM4981COM modems and both failed to find a signal.  I don't know if upgrading is even worth it at this point.  What's the difference between the two models?  Why does Xfinity need me to upgrade if the old model is working just fine?

Gapryncess If an upgrade was recommended it's likely that the current device is either "end of life", or it doesn't support your full speed. To confirm when you hooked up the new devices you tried did you go through the app to add them to the account, and active while using the same outlet the older one was connected to?
