what is the maintenance for? is it for the update Sequential speeds in my area?

I have the best internet plan available in my area, Boston MA. (Tremont area) Recently, there’s been a lot of maintenance, and I’m wondering if they’re finally doing the upgrade. My current plan is 1.2 GB down and 35 up—will it be upgraded to 2.0 GB down and 300 up? I’ve been asking for about two years now, but every time I call Comcast, they just say “soon.” How soon is “soon”? For what I do—streaming in 4K and uploading files/videos to YouTube—I really need speeds of 300 upload or more. When will this happen? Is it related to the upcoming maintenance? And when will I be able to get the XB10?

Hello, @shasarj thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. That is a great question, and definitely understand wanting to know when higher speeds will become available. When the network enhancements are done for the area equipment, you will receive an official notification in the mail, it's typically about 1-2 weeks before the anticipated work.

We also have this helpful website that you can also sign up to receive notifications when the enhancement work will begin:

https://www.xfinity.com/network

- Have your received any notification either in the mail, or by text/email related to network enhancements?

Regarding the XB10 availability, that gateway is only available for customers who are in X-Class service areas that offer symmetrical speeds. From experience, I've seen that usually the area equipment has to first be updated to provide the 250/300 upload and 2 Gig downloads before the symmetrical speeds become available.

Please let me know if this helpful.

@shasarj The notification is sent out automatically. I can check if the area is now eligible for our 250/300 speeds. Please send a direct message by clicking the chat icon in the upper right corner of the page, click on the pen and paper icon, then enter “Xfinity Support” in the “To” section.
