What upload speeds can I expect with CM3000?

Currently, I am using a CM2000 modem and only getting upload speeds of 40Mbps (xFinity's approved list states I can achieve up to 400+ speeds).  As I research, I find out that xFinity or Netgear intentionally hobble this modem to 40Mbps.

My area (Zip Code 22556) just received an xFinity Next Gen upgrade.

I desire to get the upload speeds that I have been paying for.

xFinity's approved devices state the CM3000 will achieve the higher up-speeds (but it lied with the CM2000)

I would like to know what is the best and most reliable option for me to purchase in order to get the best upload and download performance.

Please advise, and please do not send me the approved device list, I want to know which modem provides users with the Up/Down numbers they expect.  User satisfaction trumps the approved device list.  Clearly, the CM2000 does not perform as xFinity states, and has not for about 4 years now.

It is time for me to get what I am paying for (in terms of service) for both Up/Down speeds.

Where do you see that? I don't believe the CM2000 was ever listed as compatible with higher upload speeds. https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned rates the CM2000 for:

  • Wired Download Speed = Up to 2.34 Gbps
  • Wired Upload Speed = Up to 35 Mbps

The CM2050V, CM2500, and CM3000 are shown as compatible with higher upload speeds, but not the CM2000.

BruceW,

   Thank you for the reply!

I have not seen that URL that you sent me!  I had seen a few PDFs, where the CM2000 had the up speed at 2.34 Gbps, but no down speed.  I believe the CM2050 is just a CM2000 with the ability for a phone jack, so automatically implied the CM2000 would have the same up speed rating.

I see the page you provided indicated good up speeds on a few modems.  I would like to know if anyone could recommend one of those listed, that they have experience and they work.

My plan is 2Gbps down and 300Mbps up.  Would like to get the 300Gbps up, the down speed is working as advertised.

Thanks again

Netgear CM3000?  I have heard that neither Netgear nor xFinity have confirmed which company would be responsible for Firmware updates as the network evolves.  I don't know if this is or would be an issue as the xFinity network improves.  I really don't care as long as the device does not become unusable during application of improvements.  is there any other intel regarding this?

I am inclined to get the CM3000.  Does anyone own one and are you pleased?

The other modem that appeared to be favored by one user, Ubiquiti UCI, sounded good.  Does anyone have experience with this one?
