Which port to use on XB8 to attach external router
I just upgraded to an XB8. I also have a Netgear RAXE300 ( https://www.netgear.com/home/wifi/routers/raxe300/ ) that I would like to use instead of the wireless router in the XB8. I know I have to enable bridge mode. What port is used to connect the external router when in bridge mode? I had three seperate XB7 units, and neither would let it attach, no matter what port was used. Xfinity even sent out a tech to help set it up after many phone calls trying to resolve the issue. The tech spent 3 hours trying to get them to work together, and even after about a half dozen phone calls to netgear and the tech calling his support, no resolution was found. This is all because I cannot get *ANY* approved third party modem to work. I have 800mbps speed tier. I ordered a Netgear CM2500...it wouldn't activate. Exchanged it for another one (Amazon), and the replacement would not activate. Tried CM3000, and the same scenario; first one would not activate, exchanged it for another, and that one would not activate as well. We have new lines in our area, and everything in the box on the pole that feeds to my home as replaced last winter...everything on the pole was replaced with new hardware. I get very good, very stable signals, but I just am not happy with the coverage of the XB8. I would rather use the RAXE3000, and my x6s EX8000 mesh extender. The extender works with the xb8, but it would perform better with the RAXE300. Does the port I plug the router into matter when in bridge mode? Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I will be grateful for any responses.

Look at the ports. One of them, I believe it is port 4, has a red ring around it. Use it for maximum speed to your router. I too use my XB8 in bridge mood since the WiFi coverage is just too poor with it. My old ASUS router has much better coverage. I do worry about Comcast still enabling some WiFi but I have not taken the time to investigate if it is emitting any RF signal.

Hello @NoNoBadPuppy, Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your day to leave a post on our community forum. We do have a Compatible Modems List you can look at, so you can use a modem you want instead of the XB8. If your trying to use a third part router with our XB8 we cant always guarantee the connection. Now when using the XB8 and wanting to connect a router you would first enable bridge mode and then use port 4 for maximum speed or If you are using an ethernet cable plug the ethernet cable into the router's yellow ports.
