wired and wireless connection on gateway

Gateway Xb6 when setting up, if I have wired and wireless checked only the TV had internet (ethernet cord is attached to TV and Gateway). In order to have wireless, I had to uncheck the wired box. The TV is taking minutes to connect to the wireless recently. I would like to have the original set up with both wired and wireless working.
