Xb7-t fiber bridge mode not working

Recently got fiber internet installed at my home and I have the xb7-t gateway installed. There’s a fiber to Ethernet adapter box that’s installed as well that connects to the ports in the back of the xb7-t. I have an ASUS router that I’ve used since my previous internet provider. I logged into the xb7-t and activated bridge mode and it worked just fine for a day than my service went down because xfinity said there’s an outage they are working on. Ever since then I get no internet in bridge mode even though the xb7-t had a solid white light and the router has all solid white lights as well. I have bridge mode disabled now and I have internet but I also have a double nat. Im not sure what to do

Hey there, @user_xgillt! Thanks for creating a post with your connectivity and bridge mode concerns. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had, and I'd love to see what we can do to help! We've got a couple of great articles that would be the best place to start: Use Bridge Mode on Your Wireless Gateway - and - Connection Troubleshooting Tips. Please let me know if either of those help, or if you continue to have problems with using bridge mode. We can toggle it on and off remotely, so there's an option to have you send us a direct message in order for us to take a closer look at the account and equipment, but let's start here :)

@XfinitySara I seen on the internet that people say the Ethernet cord from the router to the xfinity modem should be in port 1 as only 1 port is active in bridge mode but I have fiber internet and it converts fiber to Ethernet and plugs into the Ethernet port in the back of the modem so people say only 1 port should be used in the back of the modem but since I have fiber it’s going to use 2 ports for 2 cables at all time for the cable to the fiber box and the cable to the router

Hi there, @user_xgillt I'm so sorry for the trouble you are having with the bridge mode. Have you tried exchanging your modem and see if it's the modem that is causing the issues that you are experiencing?-Richard

As it says in https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode:

Any ethernet port can be used but only one device can be connected to the gateway while in Bridge Mode.

Why not feed the "fiber to Ethernet adapter box" directly into your router? Why bother with the gateway at all?

Can I do that? I’ve seen some posts about the ONT fiber box acts as a modem it’s self so I going connect directly to the router
