XB8 Dropping 2.4GHz Devices

I've had an XB8 for a little over 6 months now with no issues. All of the sudden the last 2 days it started dropping 2.4GHz devices, specifically ring cameras, smart light and sockets, washer and dryer. I do not have the bands split so the modem is operating on the one. I haven't had an issue until now, when I go into the modem page I can see all the 2.4 GHZ devices offline and not connecting. I have tired to reset the modem and change the encryption to WPA2. When I do reset the modem I can see that the devices will connect for a brief few second then disconnect. I haven't tried splitting the bands, because everything was working just fine. I'm not sure if the was a firmware push or what happened. Any help would great. Thanks.

Before anything further, try splitting them. That would be the next logical step.

Thanks for the reply, I confirmed that the firmware on the modem did update about 4 days ago, so I would assume that is the cause. I agree splitting the band would be the next "logical" choice, but I really don't want to have two separate bands, isn't that the point of band bonding? I'll wait for an update from the community experts. Thanks again.

I just installed the XB-8 modem/router and have one device (a smart hot-water heater) that won’t connect bc it can only use the 2.4 ghz band. When I get into the admin tool, I can see 3 bands : 2.4, 5, and 6. Can someone (anyone) explain to me how I can separate the bands ? Is that the issue, that the bands have to be separated for my device to connect to the 2.4 band ? Any help is appreciated … Comcast/xFinity has been of NO help, even they are the ones who provide this modem/router XB-8

Hello @user_t8vnk6, Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your day to leave a comment on our community forum. If you go into your Xfinity App and then click the "Wifi" tab at the bottom of the page. Then click on "Wifi details" and then click on "Edit Wifi Settings" and scroll down to "Split Bands and it should do the trick but you will see a warning that we don't advise to do this but its up to you. Let us know if you need help with anything else.

You're welcome ! It's up to you.. Not every device plays nicely with combined bands... Good luck !
