Xfinity Cable Modem with WiFi LAN
When the Xfinity Cable Modem was installed, our secured home WiFi appeared on our computer's available WiFi networks list as secured - which is good.
But, another WiFi network labeled as "xfinitywifi" that is unsecured also appeared on our computer's WiFi network list.
When we removed the power from our Xfinity Cable Modem, both our secured home WiFi and the "xfinitywifi" unsecured WiFi disappeared from our computer's WiFi network list.
This means that the "xfinitywifi" unsecured network going through my Xfinity Cable Modem and could increase my Xfinity data usage if someone connects to it.
How can we disable the"xfinitywifi"unsecured connection that is going through my Xfinity Cable Modem and still keep my home secured WiFi running?

That public WiFi Hotspot is completely separate and it can't affect your private network.

Hello user_cxtald thanks so much for reaching out here via our Xfinity Forums with these internet equipment settings questions. Our amazing community expert @EG is absolutely correct; the public hotspot does not affect your data usage. However, if you'd prefer to disbale the public hotpsot feature, this is done quicklu and easily via the Xfinity App!
Turn your Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspot on or off in the Xfinity app
Go to the Xfinity app.
Sign in to your account using the Primary, Manager, or Member’s Xfinity ID and password.
Tap WiFi.
Tap View WiFi equipment.
Tap Advanced settings.
Tap Xfinity WiFi hotspot network.
Move the toggle to the right to turn on your public hotspot. Move it to the left to turn it off.
Turn Xfinity Wi-Fi Home Hotspot On Or Off
