Xfinity pods

Hello. I just recently got serv. I have a xb8 gateway.  I also live in a home over 2600 square feet,  upstairs and downstairs.  Is my gateway strong enough for the whole house to get reception? Or do I need to think about xfinity pods extenders? If so, do I qualify for said pods for free?

It really depends on where you put your gateway (router) in relation to the devices you want to connect. I have mine on the main level and my upstairs is really weak, I have 3000sqft above the basement. In my bedroom upstairs the wifi just dropped constantly. Once I got the xfipod i have full strength on my entire upstairs level. My basement is another 1500 sqft so I put another one down there as well, and am happy with the wifi coverage in the house.

They were supposed to give me a pod for free as part of the deal when i signed up, but theres all this fine print about a 2 week "Evaluation" before they deem if they will send you a free one or not. Because it was pretty much unusuable I had to just put up the 200 bucks to get two of these things, and the evaluation period will probably come back as adequate and they wont allow me to get my free one. Ill come back and update my comment if they do but I highly doubt Ill get it at this point.

Also when you do get them, your phone will be probably be fine, but just watch out on your computer some times the pods come up with the name "hidden network" and youll have to click on that network and put in the regular networks name and password to connect to that pod specifcially. Theres all kinds of people having issues with their computers connecting to the main router which is down stairs across the house and getting a super weak signal instead of the pod you just put in the hall way out side your bedroom door.
